Japanese and other overseas banks' reliance on short-term US dollars from inter-bank loans has increased the vulnerability of the global financial system to a liquidity crunch, the Bank for International Settlements said. "Global US dollar funding markets are likely to be a key pressure point during any future market stress episode," the Switzerland-based authority said in its annual report.
