18:23 AUD/USD: Sellers Continue To Hold Sway, Bounces Shallow] New York, June
1st: There was aggressive selling from both hedge funds and investment banks
today as prices slipped below 0.7500. There has been plenty of weak economic
data out of Australia with both GDP today and retail sales both coming in below
expectations. The drought situation seemed to worsen as well, and could lop
significant growth off the economy, like it did in 2001. Uridashi issuance has
slowed in recent sessions and real money accounts haven't been significant
players in the last few sessions. Interest to sell Kiwi was noted with hedge
funds sniffing around for downside strikes and real money selling NZD/USD on
either side of 0.7000. AUD/USD should continue to weaken as the Dollar remains
in vogue, but traders see the option barriers near 0.7450 as the next potential
support level. --Thomas.Rogers@thomson.com
