ABN Amro now predicts the dollar will trade at $1.15 against the euro by the end of June, compared with a previous prediction of $1.17, wrote London-based analyst Shahab Jalinoos in the bank's Global FX Strategy report. It will trade at $1.10 by the end of September rather than at $1.20.
Jalinoos also raised his forecast for the U.S. currency to 108 yen by the end of next month from 101. At the end of September, the dollar will buy 105 yen rather than 97 yen as previously forecast, he wrote.
J.P. Morgan raised its forecast for the dollar against the yen on expectations the Fed will raise its target rate next month and double the rate to 2 percent by year-end. The dollar will buy 110 yen by June 30, from a previous prediction of 108, Rebecca Patterson, a currency strategist at J.P. Morgan in New York wrote in a report. The yen may weaken to 115.50 before June 30, she said.
